Velocity is a multi-player Quake-like I am currently working on, made with Unreal Engine 4. In Velocity, the main movement mechanic is a grappling hook which allows players to move quickly and freely both horizontally and vertically. It is played in a 1v1 Chase-Tag inspired game mode.

 

While I have received help on the graphics, Velocity is mostly a solo project and I handle both Game Design & Programming:

  • Doing R&D around the grapple mechanic, tweaking the movements and overall balancing.
  • Re-imagining the classic Quake 1v1 game loop to come up with something more intuitive.
  • Programming a network game for Internet play (which requires lag compensation).
